With a technology grant from the Legal Services Corporation, Pine Tree has created two legal aid apps for Android, iPhone, iPod and iPad - the Legal Aid News app and the Legal Aid Finder app. They are available from the Android Marketplace, Apple's App Store, and on-line.

LEGAL AID NEWS

Legal Aid News by StateThe Legal Aid News app provides news about legal aid and related programs around the country. News is available for legal aid programs state by state, for national legal centers for low-income people, for the legal services corporation or for all the news. The app will provide the fifty most recent news stories for any state or category.

Legal Aid News"National News" gathers news about the Legal Services Corporation and several news topics of general interest. "National Legal Centers" gathers news about national organizations such as the National Consumer Law Center, the National Health Law Program and others. In each state we gather news about programs providing legal assistance to the low-income community. "All The News" selects the fifty most recent news stories from all the news feeds. We gather bad news as well as good news.

LEGAL AID FINDER

Legal Aid Programs by StateThe Legal Aid Finder app provides contact information and website links for legal aid programs around the country. Information is provided on a state by state basis. Initially we provide information on only staff based programs providing direct representation to low-income clients, but look for an upgrade soon to include pro bono programs, as well.

Legal Aid Programs in MaineFor each program in each state, where such information is available, the Legal Aid Finder app provides a phone number for requesting legal assistance, a phone number to contact the administrative office, and a link to the program website offering self-help information.

The Finder app is available from the Android Marketplace and is available as a Web App that should function on any smartphone platform iOS, Windows Mobile, Palm, Blackberry or others. In iOS "add to Home Page."
